25 Things Before 25: Number 12 Bible Verses

Memorize and internalize 25 bible verses!

Raised in a Church

I was one of those kids who went to church service and Sunday school on Sundays and Youth Group on Wednesdays every week growing up. I was definitely raised in a church. I was baptized as a baby, went through confirmation as a preteen, got confirmed at 13, and was always active in my churches activities. I loved it and had some amazing friends through church, as well.

Finding Comfort

During college, I only really went to church on holidays because my schedule was so chaotic. The past few weeks, I have gone back to the same church I went to growing up and have had some of those moments that I talked about in my previous post. When I woke up this morning, I told my mom that every week the Pastors says something that I need to hear–something that speaks exactly to the situation I’m in. This gives me great comfort to know that answers are always there for me, I just have to do my part.

New Verses

Today’s gospel reading was a story that isn’t very emphasized throughout the bible. It was about Mammon. The lesson was so interesting to me in that the Pastor had to kind of lead us to understanding what Jesus was trying to teach us about shrewd behavior and wealth. Well, I’m not here to preach, but this sermon in and of itself was inspiring in that it reminded me that the major stories that most of us remember and internalize aren’t the only stories to learn from. Just as that is true, I know that there are some bible verses that I don’t fully understand that I’m sure would give me more comfort. That being said, I know that there are no “new” verses, I would just like find 25 verses that I am not extremely familiar with and learn from them over the course of the next year.

I have been experiencing such serenity since I have been going to church again, and I am so happy to incorporate this into my 25 Things Before 25 journey.
